Ahead of Asia Cup 2023, Bangladesh has announced its squad for Asia Cup 2023 on August 12. The Bangladesh fast Bowler Ebadot will be missing the upcoming Asia Cup due to the injury.
Ebadot Hossain Ruled Out of Asia Cup 2023
The 29-year-old right-fast bowler had suffered an ACL injury during the ODI series against Afghanistan and has not recovered yet after rehab. He was named in the squad but will be taking more time for his recovery.
He will be replaced by fast bowler Tanzim Hasan and Ebadot’s return for the World Cup is doubt with his recovery time. Ebadot had scalped wickets in 11 out of 12 matches since his debut last August.
Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief Sports Physician Dr Chowdhury said, “Ebadot had undergone six weeks of rehab following the injury.”
“We have had multiple MRIs done during this time and the reports suggest that his ACL is still a concern and requires further management. Therefore, he misses out on the Asia Cup.”
“Considering the importance of the Bangladesh team’s next major event, which is the ICC World Cup in October, the BCB is committed to exploring every safe medical option available for getting Ebadot back to full fitness and playing as early as possible, including consultation and treatment overseas.”
On the other hand, Tanzim had scalped 57 list A wickets in 37 games, which includes the three matches of the Emerging Men’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka where he had scalped nine wickets in three matches. He also took 17 wickets for Abahani Limited to win the Dhaka Premier League Last season.
Tanzim is listed as the 9th member of the 2020 under-19 World Cup winning side to get into the senior side. Other players like Towhid Hridoy, Shoriful Islam, Shamim Hossain, and Tanzid Hasan are the other four members making it to the squad from the u-19.
There are 6 teams in Asia Cup Team List 2023. These teams are divided into two groups with India, Pakistan, and Nepal in Group A, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan in Group B.
Bangladesh is set to have its first match against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup on August 31, at Pallekele International Stadium, following a match against Afghanistan on September 3 at Gaddafi Stadium.
