Shivan Dube becomes the talkable topic right after his unbeaten 95 runs which leads CSK to register their first victory of the IPL 2022 season.
The southpaw became the Player of the Match after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 23 runs on April 12.
Shivam Dube On Yuvraj Singh Comparisons
After the game, in the post-match presentation, he said that people do talk about the similarities between his batting and Yuvraj Singh’s batting.
Dube, in the post-match presentation also said that MS Dhoni has also helped him improve his game.
“We were looking for the first win and I am really happy that I contributed for the team. It’s a honour for me. I am more focused this time and focusing on basics. I spoke to many seniors – Mahi bhai also helped me to improve the game.
He said, ‘Just be focused, just be still, just let the skill work in the game.’ I wanted to time the ball really well. I tried to maintain my balance.
Yuvi pa is always a role model for a left-hander. Many people told me that I bat like him. As the situation demands, as the captain and coach tell me, I am ready to bat anywhere”.
Sanjay Manjrekar On Shivam Dube
Former Indian batter Sanjay Manjrekar reckoned Shivam Dube’s style of stroke-play is similar to that of Yuvraj Singh.
Sanjay Manjrekar felt that Dube’s knock and audacious batting at the Dr. Dy Patil Sports Complex in Mumbai overshadowed Uthappa’s innings by quite some distance.
“Hazlewood got it right, bowled it full and Dube was deep inside his crease. And to get that kind of elevation is almost impossible. He’s got this natural gift of hitting the ball a long way, Yuvraj Singh had it, Shivam Dube has it,” Manjrekar told.
“He’s also looking a little fitter and leaner, maybe stronger. And that shot off Wanindu Hasaranga, there was nothing wrong in that delivery, just about short of a length because he didn’t want to pitch it right up, but Dube went on the backfoot and hit it a long-distance,” he stated.
“Those two shots tell you this guy is not just a hitter, he hits some incredible shots. That’s why this innings has been able to overshadow another fantastic inning that we saw,” Manjrekar added.
Dube is currently second in the list of leading run-scorers in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, having scored 207 runs from five games at an average of 51.75 and a strike rate of 176.92.
