Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli has rejected the claims of issues with his health after a disturbing video went viral on social media in which he was seen struggling to walk.
Kambli has confirmed that the video is outdated and he is doing fine at the moment. Earlier this week a video of him where he was seen struggling to walk went viral and made the fans worry about his health conditions.
Vinod Kambli has had issues with his health over the years, he suffered a heart attack in 2013 despite undergoing angioplasty the year before to clear two blocked arteries.
The video of Vinod Kambli struggling to walk pushed his friends to check up on him. According to a report, Vinod’s school classmate Ricky and first-class umpire Marcus visited him and spent some quality time with the former cricketer.
During the five hours of friendly talk, Kambli said “I am fine, don’t believe social media.”
“He was in jolly mood when we met him. He is recovering well and is in much better condition. The video being circulated is outdated. He doesn’t have belly fat and eats his food well. The entire family was present and enjoying each other’s company. His son, Cristiano, also a left-hand batter like his father, was taking batting tips from his father,” said Marcus.
He spoke to several friends, including former teammate Abey Kuruvilla, who is now BCCI GM and Ajinkya Naik, the President of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
Vinod Kambli appeared in 17 Tests and 104 ODIs for India and scored 1084 and 2477 runs which includes six centuries. He announced his retirement from first-class cricket on 22 September 2011.
Kambli is currently on the Cricket Improvement Committee for the Mumbai Cricket Association.
