The wicketkeeper Batter Dinesh Karthik who has been impressive during the IPL 2024 season, has shown a sense of humour as he took a poke from former England captain Nasser Hussain.
Dinesh Karthik-Naseer Hussain involved in Hilarious Banter
Dinesh Karthik had been remarkable during the RCB’s match against Punjab Kings where he smashed an impressive knock of 28 runs off 10 deliveries guiding the side to help the side to victory with an outstanding strike rate of 280.
His performance earned him praise from Hussain who even suggested Dinesh to be part of the Indian squad for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
However, Karthi dismissed Hussain’s heartwarming compliments saying, “Nas I am not going to trust a word of what you said. Nas doesn’t like me as a person as a player as a wicketkeeper let alone any part of me.”
“This was the first time he said ‘Oh you smashed it’. But still, if you ask him if he puts the Indian team right now and asks six keepers I would be the eighth on the list,” said Dinesh Karthik
The 38-year-old accused Hussain of betrayal. He remarked that after 10 matches, Hussain would say, “I thought for a second you batted well, now you look good.”
Despite the banter, he said that he was satisfied with his own performance saying that it has been a promising star for him in the IPL 2024.
“Last year at the World Cup the only person who wanted me so badly out of the team… You took an interview with me you stabbed me in the back. Where is the Rishabh Pant that was the headline we got.”
“Don’t try to play nice and coy with me. After ten games he would probably give me a ring and say I just thought for a second you batted well now looks good. On a serious note, it has been a good start for me personally,” he added.
Coming to the tournament, RCB won only one match out of five matches they played in the ongoing season and are currently placed in the 9th spot of the IPL 2024 points table.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will be playing their next match against Mumbai Indians on April 11 at Wankhede Stadium.
