Chennai Super Kings pacer Deepak Chahar is set to miss CSK’s clash against Lucknow Super Giants today at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
Ahead of the Mumbai Indians’ clash on April 14, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad confirmed that Chahar has picked up a niggle and that is the reason why he was not available for selection.
Without the service of Deepak Chahar, CSK struggles to make an impact with the new ball. Chahar, with the new ball, has been consistent and been an asset for the CSK side.
With doubts regarding his participation in the LSG’s game, a report confirmed that the right-hander is in rehab and is set to miss the match due to a minor injury.
CSK’s head coach praised Shardul Thakur, who came in as a like-for-like replacement for Chahar in Chennai’s previous game against the Mumbai Indians.
“He is doing his rehabs well. It was a minor injury nothing to worry about. Shardul Thakur bowled well in the last match against Mumbai so we opted to give time to Chahar to recover well,” said Fleming on Chahar at the pre-match press conference.
In the game against Mumbai Indians, the 32-year-old bowling all-rounder failed to pick a wicket but managed to restrict the run flow. Thakur conceded just 35 runs in 4 overs and helped his team to beat their arch-rivals by 20 runs.
Earlier, Chennai Super Kings named England pacer Richard Gleeson as the replacement player for the injured Devon Conway for the remainder of the IPL 2024 season.
Ruturaj Gaikwad led Chennai Super Kings stands third in the IPL 2024 Points Table with 4 wins out of 6 games they played so far.
