The Delhi Capitals franchise has named Lizaad Williams as a replacement for England cricketer Harry Brook at a base price of INR 50 lakhs.

Delhi Capitals have signed South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams as a replacement for Harry Brook who withdrew from IPL 2024 after his grandmother’s death.
Williamson who is set to join DC will be his first stint in the IPL. The inclusion of Williamson will significantly boost the bowling department, which comprises Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed, Jhye Richardson, and Mukesh Kumar.
They also have two bowling pacers, Mitchell Marsh and Sumit Kumar. Capitals also had Lungi Ngidi but he withdrew from the tournament as he continued his recovery from the lower back injury he suffered during the SA20 2024 season.
Lizaad Williams has 106 wickets from 83 T20s with a bowling average of 19.76. He made his debut for South Africa in April 2022 and has played two Tests, four ODIs, and 11 T20Is.
He was part of the South Africa squad for the ODI World Cup 2023 and played in the match against Bangladesh. He took 15 wickets during SA20 this year and secured fourth position in the most wicket-takers list.
Williams will be arriving for the Capitals with Mitchell Marsh suffering a hamstring injury that has ruled him out for at least a week. Coming to the tournament, Delhi Capitals had only one victory out of five matches they played and was pushed toward the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table.
Delhi Capitals suffered defeats in the matches against Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Mumbai Indians, but secured victory in the match against Chennai Super Kings.
Delhi Capitals will be playing their next match against Lucknow Super Giants on April 12 at Ekana Sports City, Lucknow.
