CWI Awards Multi Year Contracts for Men and Women Players

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has awarded multi-year contracts for several men’s and women’s players for the next two years.

The historical achievement comes on the back of a new four-year (MOU) signed in January 2024 between CWI and the West Indies Players Association.

Fifteen Senior Men’s players come under contract with six of those players being offered multi-year contracts based on their performance during the 2023-24 evaluation.

The CWI director of Cricket Miles Bascombe said, “CWI has committed to maintaining open and honest dialogue with players and being practical about the realities of the modern game.”

“The players have responded in kind and the acceptance of multi-year contracts is an indication of clarity, confidence, and commitment on both sides. I’d like to congratulate the entire contracted cohort on their performances in the last assessment period and I look forward to them building on those in the next one.”

The WI Men’s contracted a pool of international players, with only two changes in the fifteen-member group. Out of the 15 men, Six were handed multi-year contracts including Shai Hope, Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Jaydon Seales and Shamar Joseph.

Kavem Hodge who made his test debut this year against Australia receives his first international contract, along with Roston Chase.

Hodge played a crucial role in the team’s first test win against Australia in 28 years in Brisbane and also scored a maiden test century against England at Trent Bridge.

Meanwhile, Chase amassed 241 runs in eight innings and also bagged 12 wickets in the format.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Kemar Roach are no longer on international retainer contracts.

Chanderpaul will take up a franchise retainer contract with Guyana Harpy Eagles for the upcoming year, while Roach is in discussions with CWI regarding a dual role as playing and coaching role as he begins to plan and consider the next stage of his career.

Munisar has been awarded an international contract for the first time following her brilliant performance including the leading wicket-taker in the CG Uniter Super 50 tournament.

Jannillea Glasgow, Mandy Mangru and Shabika Gajnabi have been offered Academy contracts, while Sheneta Grimmond Will take up a new franchise retainer for the upcoming year.
