CSK vs LSG 2024 highlights; Lucknow Super Giants Rumble to 6-wicket Win

CSK vs LSG 2024: Marcus Stoinis’ impressive knock of 124* runs on 63 deliveries powered up LSG’s victory during the IPL 2024 match against CSK on April 23 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

He was named as the Player of the Match as he single-handedly guided the side towards the victory. His century overshadowed CSK Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad’s Century in their innings.

KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants secured back-to-back victories against Chennai Super Kings in home and away games. With the victory in Chennai Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants moved to 4th position in the IPL 2024 points table.

While speaking in the post-match conference, Marcus Stoinis said, “In these competitions, there are plenty of better opening batters better than me so I’ll leave it to them.”

“It’s not just go go go, there were some bowlers we wanted to target and some bowlers we wanted to be more cautious against. There was a phase where I wasn’t able to hit the boundaries so it was great Pooran could come in and take the pressure off. Lots of ebbs and flows, just tried to keep it in control.”

“You’re planning and structuring, you’re not liking certain bowlers and you’re liking others more. I do think T20 cricket is changing, the scores that have been scored, the impact player role and how teams are taking on the bowlers.”

“I’ve got a great relationship with the coach (Australian Head coach), me not getting a contract, I knew that long ago. It’s great to let the kids come in and get an opportunity, I’m happy to let them take my spot. But on the playing front, I’d like to play and contribute,” concluded Marcus Stoinis.

Coming to the match, Lucknow Super Giants won the toss and opted to bowl. Batting first Chennai Super Kings lost their first wicket as Ajinkya Rahane was sent out with 1 run by Matt Henry on the first over of the innings.

Daryl Mitchell who was brought in as a replacement as Rachin Ravindra, was sent out by Yash Thakur for 11 runs. With the dismissal of Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube joined forces with Ruturaj Gaikwad to hand a partnership score of 104 runs for the 4th wicket.

Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 108* runs on 60 deliveries including 12 fours and 3 sixes while Shivam Dube smashed 66 runs on 27 deliveries. Their partnership score helped the side to score 210 runs in 20 overs.

With the target of 211 runs, Lucknow Super Giants opened their innings where Deepak Chahar dismissed Quinton de Kock for a duck.

With the dismissal of KL Rahul for 16 runs, LSG lost two wickets for 32. Pathirana dismissed Devdutt Padikkal and Nicholas Pooran for 13 and 34 runs while Marcus Stoinis went to smash a century. During the final over of the match, Stoinis went to score 124 runs on 63 deliveries and won the match by 6 wickets.
