The 35-year-old Imran Patel has died of a massive heart attack during a match in Pune. Patel entered the pitch as the opening batsman for the league match when after a few overs he complained to the umpires of pain in his left arm and chest.
The discussion with the umpires was brief and he collapsed on the ground when he walked to the pavilion. The entire incident was caught on camera as the match was being streamed live.
Imran Patel collapsed near the boundary and his fellow players rushed to the ground for aid he was immediately admitted to the hospital.
A match was underway between the Lucky Builders and Developers and Young Xl at the Garware Cricket Stadium. Imran Patel captain of the luck team, hit two fours in the sixth over.
My neck and hand are hurting. I will go outside and get a medicine pill,” said Patel to umpires. He was advised to take care of hospital and go to hospital immediately.
“He didn’t have history of any medical condition,” said Naseer Khan. “He played regularly and was in good physical condition. In fact, he was an all-rounder who loved the game. We’re all still in shock,” Khan said.
Patel has a famil of a wife and three daughters, the youngest is just four months old. A crowd turned up for his last rites near Maulana Azad college late on Wednesday.
Patel who owned a cricket team, also had a real estate business and ran a juice shop in the Roshan Gate area.
His death was similar to cricketer Habib Shaikh‘s who too died while playing a match on September 07, with Habib was a diabetic.
