The Cricket West Indies has named Roston Chase as the replacement for Obed McCoy for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa starting on March 25.
Roston Chase Replaces Obed McCoy in West Indies T20I Squad
Obed McCoy was named in West Indies T20I squad subject to medical clearance but has been ruled out of the series owing to a knee injury.
During the West Indies tour of South Africa, a total of 2 Tests, 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is have been scheduled to play. South Africa won the Test series by 2-0. The 3-match ODI series will begin on March 16 while the T20I series will begin on March 25.
In an official statement issued by the Cricket West Indies (CWI), lead selector Desmond Haynes said that Roston Chase is a versatile player. He also wished Obed McCoy the best for his rehabilitation programme and was hopeful of soon seeing him back in action.
“Roston gets an opportunity in the upcoming series as we see him being a versatile player who can be called upon at any stage in the game. We want to wish Obed the best with his rehabilitation programme and hope to see him back in West Indies colours soon”, said Desmond Haynes.
Ahead of IPL Auction, Obed McCoy has been retained by Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2023 season. As per IPL Schedule 2023, Rajasthan Royals will play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 2 in Hyderabad.
