India Squad For SL 2023: Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja are the two names that fans might searched under the lens right after BCCI announced the India squad for Sri Lanka 2023 series.
India Squad For SL 2023 – Bumrah, Jadeja Missed Out
BCCI named India the ODI squad under Rohit Sharma while named the T20I squad under Hardik Pandya where numerous big names missed out owing to various reasons.
The Sri Lanka tour of India 2023 will kickstart with a T20I match on January 3 in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Jadeja and Bumrah are the two notable names that missed out on the squad list. Ravindra Jadeja had undergone a knee surgery after the Asia Cup in UAE and was then ruled out for an indefinite period.
Jadeja played his last ODI match against England in July 2022 and played his last T20I match during the same tour. While Bumrah’s injury emerged just before India’s T20I series against South Africa began on September 28. Bumrah’s injury further led him to miss T20 World Cup 2022.
Jasprit Bumrah played his last ODI match against England on July 2022 and played his last T20I match against Australia in September 2022.
While reports confirm that, Bumrah will be available for the New Zealand series which starts from Jan 18.
Shikhar Dhawan has been benched despite leading the Indian ODI team throughout the past two years while the key players concentrated on T20Is. Ishan Kishan got a double century in his place during the third One-Day International against Bangladesh.
Ravi Bishnoi was released after spending time with the squad last year since the selectors appear to have settled on Yuzvendra Chahal as the only legspinner in the white-ball squads.
Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Siraj will take a break for the T20I series and return for the ODIs.
Prasidh’s absence has seen the selectors rope in pacers Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik and Mohammed Shami to find a suitable replacement.
Bumrah, Jadeja’s New Training Program
Instead, under Nitin Patel’s observation, Bumrah and Jadeja are going through a series of tests and training sessions to evaluate match workload. For Jadeja, he has been made to bowl, bat and field to understand where he stands in terms of full fitness. In case of Bumrah, he has already begun bowling at full tilt.
While Jasprit Bumrah’s return was touch and go, Ravindra Jadeja was confirmed to return. But BCCI intervened. Jadeja was previously named in the squad for the Bangladesh tour.
