Brydon Carse Replaces Gus Atkinson in England’s Playing 11 for 2nd T20I

Pacer Brydon Carse will replace Gus Atkinson in England’s playing 11 for the second T20I of England’s tour of India 2025.

The ECB has announced that Jamie Smith has been added to the 12-player squad for the match. The 27-year-old scored just 2 runs off 13 balls and conceded 38 runs in his 2 overs.

This has prompted visitors to go for a change in the lineup as they aim to make a comeback in the series on Saturday. Carse has played four games for England and has picked up just 6 wickets in his T20I career and is yet to play a match in India.

Bethell scored 7 runs off 14 balls in Kolkata, missed the pre-match training session on Friday due to illness. With Jacob Bethell’s participation in the match remains uncertain, England has decided to bring in Jamie Smith.

Smith had an impressive start to his career for England in Tests and ODI and was added to the squad after Jos Buttler decided to relinquish wicketkeeping duties during the series. Smith would be in line to make his T20I debut if Bethell fails to recover in time.

India secured 1-0 lead after a seven wicket win in the 1st T20I of the series. The second game will be played on January 25 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

England’s playing 11 for 2nd T20I against India: Ben Duckett, Phil Salt (wk), Jos Butler (c), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jacob Bethell, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood.
