“You must concentrate on the task at hand”, Brad Hogg Advises Gaikwad

Brad Hogg Advises Ruturaj Gaikwad: Former Australian spinner Brad Hogg slams Ruturaj Gaikwad and reckons that he is concerned about playing for the Indian team and the same has been his nemesis this season.

Gaikwad, who bagged the Orange Cap in 2021 for the most runs, has failed to fire and that has hurt CSK this far. So far, he has recorded scores of 0, 1, 1 and 16, as the defending champions have lost their first four games of the season.

While the flak continues to Gaikwad, ex-Australian spinner Brad Hogg is the latest to criticise him. Hogg said that if Gaikwad has playing for India during the IPL, he is going to be found wanting.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hogg said: “Ruturaj Gaikwad will be found lacking if he is planning to play for India instead of what he can achieve for the team. Because you are unable to think in this manner. You must concentrate on the task at hand and let everything else take care of itself.”

CSK’s problems were explained by the fact that they were bad in all three departments, beginning with their top order. Gaikwad hasn’t adjusted well to the bouncy wickets, according to the former KKR spinner, and opponents have already found him out. According to Brad Hogg.

“Simply put, they aren’t doing well at batting, bowling, or fielding. They’ve been outplayed in all three departments. We’ll start with Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is at the top of the list. At the moment, he’s having trouble with the bouncy wickets in Mumbai.”

“He can’t decide whether to play the cut shot or the backfoot drive, so he’s simply flirting outside the off-stump, giving the opposition teams chances.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad won the Orange Cap after scoring 635 runs in the IPL 2021. As the Yellow Army won their fourth championship, he averaged 45.35 and scored a total of 635 which includes 1 century and 4 half-centuries.

Notably, Gaikwad’s heroics last season earned him a Team India debut. He played three T20Is and scored 39 runs. Although he didn’t get regular chances in the playing XI, he remained in the squad for many white-ball series. With such dismal performances, he isn’t likely to be a part of India’s upcoming white-ball assignments.
