Pakistan Women’s Cricket team faced a setback when two of the key players were involved in a car accident on the evening of April 05.

PCB has revealed a statement about the Pakistani Batter Bismah Maroof and legspinner Ghulam Fatima had received immediate first aid and were monitored by the Board’s medical team.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board has provided an update regarding two of its women players, Bismah Maroof and Ghulam Fatima, who were involved in a minor car accident on Friday evening,” read the statement from PCB.

The incident occurred just as the team was preparing for white-ball formats on the home tour. Pakistan is set to host the West Indies on a three-match ODI and five-match T20I series. Two cricketers had been part of the squad that played in the Pakistan Women’s tour of New Zealand in 2023.

Their accident involving Maroof and Fatima has created some uncertainty about the availability of the players for the upcoming series against the West Indies.

Bismah Maroof has played 133 ODIs and 140 T20Is and amassed 6171 runs across white ball format and bagged 80 wickets through her bowling.

On the other hand, the 28-year-old bowler Ghulam Fatima has played 20 matches across the white ball formats and amassed 29 wickets.

The PCB and fans hope for a quick recovery for both cricketers, as their presence could be crucial in Pakistan’s performance in both the series for the West Indies and the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Pakistan and West Indies women are set to play their first match of the ODI series on April 18 at National Stadium, Karachi.
