Ben Stokes Returns to England Squad for Pakistan Test Tour

The Selection Committee has named a 17-member squad for the upcoming three-match test series against Pakistan which will be played in November.

Brydon Carse and Jordan Cox are the only uncapped players in the squad, who are set to start a new career chapter. Ben Stokes will return to England’s test team after missing a three-match test series against Sri Lanka at home.

After a clean sweep victory against West Indies, England secured 2-1 victory in the home series against Sri Lanka.

Stokes who sustained a hamstring injury during The Hundred competition is on his recovery along with Zak Crawley who fractured his little finger at Edgbaston in July.

“Zak Crawley returns to the squad after missing out since the West Indies series in July. Captain Ben Stokes is also included as he continues his recovery from a hamstring tear,” ECB said in a statement.

Spinner Rehan Ahmed who made his test debut in Karachi during the last Pakistan tour in December 2022, returns to the squad along with Jack Leach who is set to feature since the opening test in India in January this year.

Eight players from the 2022 squad which won the last test series 3-0 against Pakistan have been added to the squad. Rehan, Harry Brook, Crawley, Ben Duckett, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes are the players from the previous test tour of Pakistan.

Currently, England secured sixth position with 8 wins out of sixteen matches while Pakistan went down to seventh position in the WTC points table with only 2 victories in seven matches.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to announce the venues for the series later this week.
