Ahead of Asia Cup 2023, Virat Kohli posted his Yo-Yo fitness score on Instagram on August 24, where BCCI reacted to the post and was disappointed in the player for revealing confidential information.
BCCI upset on Kohli’s Yo-Yo Test score post
Virat Kohli was widely considered one of the fittest players in the cricket world, has scored 17.2 in the Yo-Yo Test on Thursday. The 34-year-old player took to Instagram to share his Yo-Yo test score and fans were thrilled to see his fitness tests, but BCCI was not happy seeing the player on posting the confidential information on social media.
“The happiness of finishing the Yo-Yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 done,” said Kohli on the post. However, BCCI has reminded all the players including Kohli, that sharing this information on social media shouldn’t happen again.
“Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause,” said on BCCI statement.
Indian players have been undergoing a training camp at NCA, Bengaluru. With most of the players joining recently, the other players who are playing in the T20I series against Ireland will be joining their squad on August 25.
The Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma and Vice-captain Hardik Pandya also took the test on the first day of the camp where most of them passed the test.
Apart from the fitness routines, the outdoor events will also include match stimulation monitored by batting coach Vikram Rathour and head coach Rahul Dravid. India had won the Ireland series 2-0 with 3rd match was abandoned due to rain.
The Asia Cup 2023 will serve as a warmup match for the upcoming ODI World Cup. The board and team management considered all possibilities for the Asia Cup and gave the team the best chance of winning the title.
The upcoming Asia Cup will be set to start on August 30 and India will be playing their first match against their arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
The 16th edition of the Asia Cup tournament is scheduled to play between August – September and will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
As per the Asia Cup 2023 schedule, the first match will be played between Pakistan and Nepal on August 30 at Multan Cricket Stadium, Multan. The tournament will be played between the five full members of the Asian Cricket Council.
The 2023 ACC Men’s Premier Cup winner Nepal will join India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.
The participating 6 teams will be categorized into 2 groups of three teams where the top 2 teams of the Asia Cup 2023 points table will advance to the Super Four round(of each group). The final of the tournament will be played between the top two teams of the Super 4 round.
