According to some reports, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to make some adjustments in protocols during Indian team tours and the players will also be barred from taking independent transport to commute during practice and matches.
For a tour of 45 days, the family members can be with a player for 14 days. Meanwhile, during shorter tours in foreign countries, the immediate family members of a play can stay up to a week.
The reports further added that Indian team skipper Rohit Sharma, head coach Gautam Gambhir and Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar met the BCCI officials in Mumbai and were informed of the new protocols.
During the meeting, it was also discussed that players and coaches should travel only by team bus in order to maintain unity and team bonding. It remains unknown, whether the policy will be implemented for the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025 and the tour of England later this year.
India’s recent suffered a humiliating 1-3 defeat to Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 and failed to qualify for the World Test Championship Final at Lord’s.
Skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been criticised for an underwhelming performance in five match series against Australia. The insiders also indicated that another rule might by come into effect cover the luggage of the players on tours. According to the proposal, the BCCI will not pay for the player’s luggage if it is more than 150 kg and player have to bear on that.
