BCCI Chief Selector Salary
As per a report BCCI has decided to hike the salary of the chairman after failing to attract any of the big names, even those who were eligible for the post had distanced themselves since they were getting paid better through commentary and studio expert roles.
The Indian Cricket Board currently offers a remuneration of Rs 1 crore to the chairman of selectors. The other members of the panel bag Rs 90 lakh each.
According to the BCCI’s criteria to apply for the chief selector’s role, a candidate must have played at least 7 Test matches, or 30 first-class games or 10 ODI matches and 20 first-class matches.
The sticking point which ruled out many major names was the fact that the rules say the candidate must have retired five years previously, and therefore, many legends of the sport such who retired more recently couldn’t have applied for the hot seat even if they had wished to.
Moreover, the official confirmation is set to be made during the Apex Council meeting on July 7.
The other items on the meeting’s agenda include media and sponsorship rights, tour packages for the World Cup, stadium renovation, and the approval of player contracts for men and women.
