The Top two teams in each group will advance to the Semis stage on July 21. The finals of the Asian Cup 2023 will take place on July 23.
Yash Dhull who has a special talent and a bright future ahead, still has to go through a lot of domestic matches and experiences from overseas, before emerging as international cricket.
To test the team’s potential, ACC Men’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 will be a super competitive tournament, which can be used for measuring new Youngster ability to work under pressure. After the 2013 inception, four editions have been played, out of which they have only one win that too in the inaugural edition so far.
Notably, Suryakumar Yadav, the no.1 ranked T20I batter, was the captain of the 2013 edition.
Other players on the squad
Prabhsimran Singh, who notched up his maiden T20 hundred in IPL 2023 has been named as wicketkeeper alongside Dhruv Jurel.
Other players like Sai Sudharsan who hit 96 in the IPL 2023 final against Chennai Super Kings were also named along with Riyan Parag. Allrounder Nehal Wadhera, hitting a half-century for Mumbai Indians in his debut season, is named on the squad.
Rajvardhan Hangargekar who made his debut on 21 February 2021 on List A, for Maharashtra in the Vijay Hazare trophy 2021 was also named in the 2023 India Men’s Emerging Team Asia Cup Squad
In February 2022, he was bought by the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2022 auction. On 31 March 2023, he made his IPL debut for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2023 season.
Yash Dhull’s performance over the season
With good Credits, Dhull will have to score more runs and maintain consistency to shine on the stage. He was able to manage to stand up in the Delhi team after making his debut in 2022.
The right-handed batter, being suggested for the captaincy in no time for his state, has an average of 49.78, 38.20, and 47.37 in first-class, List-A, and T20, respectively, with a decent strike rate.
His first experience against international-level bowling did not give hand as he expected. After being tied up in by the Delhi Capitals (DC) for his base price of INR 50 lakhs, Dhull had to be placed on the bench for his entire first season. He got an opportunity in the 2023 edition as DC struggled with the absence of Rishabh Pant and poor form by the rest of the batters.
Dhull only scored 16 runs in four matches with a strike rate of 69.57, before being dropped from the playing XI. The Asian Cup 2023 will give him the necessary platform which will be an excellent opportunity to register his name onto the selectors’ minds for future games.
