The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced that November 30 will be the deadline for IPL 2024 auction player registration on Thursday.
Deadline for IPL 2024 auction player registration
With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 scheduled to be played after the IPL 2024, the Indian league has drawn a lot of attraction which will serve as a better opportunity for the players to draw out their game ahead of the ICC tournament.
The deadline for the players to register for the Indian Premier League auction is marked on November 30 and they are set to submit their names along with a No Objection Certificate through their respective boards.
With the IPL 2024 auction scheduled to be held on December 19, around 700+ players are expected to register for the auction for this season. Prominent World Cup performers such as Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Travis Head, Rachin Ravindra, and Ibrahim Zadran are expected to be the top draws in the auction.
On top of all, Starc is expected to be in pursuit of all franchises despite him being unavailable after being acquired in previous auctions. Cricket Australia has revealed that around five franchises have reached out to the left-seamer and he’s likely to feature in the list.
“Look it’s been eight years. I’m definitely going back in [next] year. Amongst other things, it’s a great lead-up to the T20 World Cup.
“So a good opportunity to see if anyone’s interested in the IPL, then lead into the T20 World Cup. And it’s somewhat of a quiet winter next year…in comparison to this winter, so I think a perfect opportunity to put my name in,” Starc told on a cricket podcast.
Travis Head made a clear statement on the using the opportunity to play in the IPL 2024 before their semi finals clash against South Africa in World Cup 2023.
“I was restricted a little bit on time last year with getting married. I will put myself in this year and hopefully get picked up and get an opportunity. It was nice to be involved in it a long time ago,” Head told the reporters.
After Registrations, the franchises will be shortlisting the players they require. BCCI expects 70 players to be sold at the auction. BCCI has specified that transactions can rise up to INR 262.95 crores on the auction with 77 places available across 10 squads. It is also said that teams can acquire up to 30 foreign players.
With Ben Stokes being released by Chennai Super Kings, the franchise sources indicated that they are waiting for the availability of Jofra Archer who was recently released by Mumbai Indians. There is speculation that Hazlewood will be available for the IPL 2024, having been released by the Royal Challengers recently.
The IPL is set to start in the third week of March after the Test series to be played between India and England. The IPL schedule will ensure the players and cricket boards have enough time to prepare for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 which is set to start on June 3.
