BCCI Announced IPL 2024 Auction Date: The IPL 2024 Auction will be preceded by the auction for the Women’s Premier League (WPL), expected to take place on December 9. While the venue for the WPL auction has not been finalized, it is likely to be in India.
Though BCCI has not yet announced the IPL 2024 Auction Date officially, a report states that the event is likely to be held in Dubai with the most likely dates being December 18 or 19, despite those being weekdays.
The BCCI had considered holding last year’s auction in Istanbul but eventually settled on Kochi. Given last year’s precedent, the Dubai plan may be tentative, but all IPL franchises have been informed of the Gulf city’s consideration as the auction venue.
Though the trading window is currently open, there have been no reports of player exchange among the IPL franchises so far.
Since this marks the end of the three-year window, it is uncertain whether significant trades will occur, but some high-salaried players who made limited contributions in the last IPL season could potentially be released.
BCCI is yet to communicate the venue and dates for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction to the owners. It is being suggested that the league could be scheduled for February this year.
Earlier, BCCI announced the WPL 2024 released and retained players list for all participating teams. As per the report, the Indian women’s team has international commitments until mid-January.
Though the BCCI has announced the retained and released players list for the event, they have not yet confirmed whether the WPL will be held in a single city or will spread across different locations across the country.
Notably, WPL 2023 was entirely hosted in Mumbai where Mumbai Indians won the title by beating Delhi Capitals in the final.
