The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced the T20I and ODI squad for the Sri Lanka tour which is set to begin on July 27.
India Squads for Sri Lanka Tour Announced
India’s tour of Sri Lanka will include a three-match T20I series followed by a three-match ODI series as well. This tour will be the first assignment for Gautam Gambhir’s stint as India’s head coach and will be looking to begin his tenure with a positive start.
This will be the start of a new journey for the Indian team marking the transition period from the era of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jadeja who all retired from the T20I format following the T20 World Cup triumph.

With many speculations rising on the T20I captaincy, Suryakumar Yadav will captain the T20I squad while Shubman Gill will serve as the deputy. Players like Ravi Bishnoi, Khaleel Ahmed, and Washington Sundar from India’s Zimbabwe tour will be part of the T20I squad.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhishek Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar weren’t included in the squad. Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant, Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel, and Hardik Pandya who were part of India’s T20 World Cup winning squad have been included in the squad.
Jasprit Bumrah has been rested for the tour while, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be part of the ODI squad. Rohit Sharma will lead the ODI squad while Shubman Gill will be his deputy. This will be the first time since 2021 that India will be touring Sri Lanka for a bilateral series.
The ODI squad will be featuring Riyan Parag, who made his debut on the Zimbabwe tour, KL Rahul, and Rishabh Pant are the wicketkeepers with Sanju Samson missing out.
Harshit Rana who was the hero of the KKR in the IPL 2024 season and won the title for the third time, has been included in the ODI squad.
