Bangladesh women won a bronze medal at the 19th Asian Games after beating Pakistan in a low-scoring match at Hangzhou on Monday.

Bangladesh and Pakistan Women are set to play in the playoff for the third place in the Asian Games T20I on September 25 where Bangladesh won a Bronze medal in this year’s Asia Games. Bangladesh had won silver in the previous two games. Winning the toss Bangladesh chose the bowl, where Pakistan was folded with 64 runs in 20 overs.
Shawaal Zulfiqar and Ameen opened the innings, while Marufa Akter opened the bowling attack for Bangladesh. Shawaal was sent out with a duck by Marufa Akter on the first over, while Ameen was sent out with 1 run by Akter. With Sadaf Shamas was sent out with 13 runs by Rabeya Khan, Muneeba Ali was sent out with a duck by Sanjida Akter.
Pakistan was down for 4 wickets on 18 runs with Sadaf Shamas’s dismissal. Natalia Pervaiz had scored 11 runs while Nida Dar scored 14 runs on 18 deliveries and was sent out by Shorna Akter.
Aliya Riaz scored 17 runs on 18 deliveries while Umm-e-Hani scored 1 run and was sent out by Shorna Akter. Other batters were sent out with low figures as Shorna Akter dismissed 3 wickets while Sanjida Akter Meghla scalped two wickets. Marufa Akter, Nahida Akter, and Rabeya Khan dismissed a wicket each. By the end of 20 overs, Pakistan scored 64 runs losing 9 wickets.
By folding Pakistan with 64 runs, Bangladesh’s Shamima Sultana and Shathi Randi opened for Bangladesh while Sadia Iqbal opened the bowling attack.
The openers Shamima Sultana and Shathi Rani scored 13 runs respectively. Sobhana Mostary and Nigar Sultana were sent out by Nashra Sandhu with 5 and 2 runs respectively. Shorna Akter scored an unbeaten 14 runs on 33 deliveries while the other batter Ritu Moni was sent out with 7 runs by Nida Dar. Nashra Sandhu dismissed three wickets while Nida Dar and Sadia Iqbal scalped one wicket each. Bangladesh scored 65 runs on the 19th over losing wickets.
The playoff for third place came off after India beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets while Sri Lanka women sealed a victory over Pakistan in the semi-finals. India is set to play in the finals of the Asia Games against Sri Lanka on September 25, at Pingfeng Campus Cricket field, Hangzhou.
