Bangladesh to host Zimbabwe T20I series in May

Bangladesh is set to host Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series in May ahead of the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in June.

Bangladesh will be hosting Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series which is set to start on May 03 with the first three matches to be played in a chattogram while the last two matches will be played in Dhaka.

The T20I series indicates Bangladesh’s strategy to tune their squad for the World Cup tournament in the USA and Caribbean.

In a recent development, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has opted to reschedule the two-match Test Series against Zimbabwe to 2025.

The test series will be the first one since 2018 to be played between these two teams. Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have played around 20 matches where Bangladesh has the upper hand with 13 wins while Zimbabwe has 7 victories.

During the last bilateral series in July 2022 played in Harare, the hosts won the series 2-1. Zimbabwe failed to qualify for the upcoming T20 World Cup but will be aiming for the future ODI World Cup in 2027.

Bangladesh is set to play in the T20 World Cup and will be facing Sri Lanka in their first match in the campaign. They are placed in Group D along with Nepal, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

On the other hand, the Tigers are currently playing an ODI series in the Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh where the series is tied with one victory each. The third ODI match will be played on March 18.

Recently, Zimbabwe is set to host India to play in the T20I series in July after the T20 World Cup.

The first match of the T20I series will be played on May 03 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
