BAN vs SL 2022: Nayeem Hasan Ruled Out of Test Series Owing to Finger Injury

Bangladesh Bowler Nayeem Hasan has been ruled out of the second Test against Sri Lanka due to the finger injury he sustained in the opening game of the two-match series.

Nayeem Hasan Ruled Out of Test Series

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka 2 match Test series are a part of ICC World Test Championship 2023. In the opening match, Nayeem picked 6 wickets which restricts Sri Lanka to score 397 runs in their first innings.

The Bangladesh cricket team’s chief physician Debashish Chowdhury added that chances of the offspinner making the cut for the Test series against West Indies appeared slim, considering he’ll need three to four weeks to recover from the injury.

“Nayeem is certainly ruled out from the second Test against Sri Lanka as he fractured his finger. He will need at least three to four weeks to recover and taking that into consideration it looks he is unlikely to make in the West Indies Test squad,” said Chowdhury.

Meanwhile, Chowdhury is hoping that Mehedy Hasan, who missed the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka due to a finger injury during the last edition of Dhaka Premier League, will be available during the West Indies tour.

“We have opened his plaster three to four days back and now he is having his physiotherapy, and we are hoping and confident that he will be available during the West Indies tour,” he said.

The second Test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will be played between May 23 – May 27 in Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
