Shaheen Shah Afridi missed the last two months’ games including the three-test match series against England and New Zealand owing to a knee injury. In the absence of Shaheen Afridi, Pakistan loses their home series against New Zealand and England.
“Now everyone knows he’s (Shaheen) the best bowler in Pakistan and in the world,” said Babar.
Shaheen Shah Afridi will be back in action during the upcoming PSL 2023 tournament. As per PSL 2023 Squad details, Shaheen Afridi will lead Lahore Qalandars while Babar Azam will captain the Peshawar Zalmi.
Pakistan Cricket Board released the PSL 2023 schedule on January 20, 2023 where the first match of the tournament is scheduled to be played between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars on February 13 at Multan Cricket Stadium. A total of 34 matches will be played between 6 participating teams.
Earlier, Babar Azam’s Private Videos leaked on social media and created a bustle in the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Though Babar Azam faced lots of criticism over his captaincy for not being able to register a Test victory at home last year, Salman Butt backs Babar Azam over his failures.
Notably, Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria suggests that Babar shouldn’t be compared to Virat Kohli. Kaneria also termed Babar “a big zero” when it comes to captaincy.
