The Pakistan star batter Babar Azam surpasses Virat Kohli’s Record of leading run scorer in T20I cricket during the T20 World Cup match against United States on June 06 at Dallas.
He amassed 4067 runs with an average of 41.34 and a strike rate of 128.82 in 120 matches surpassing Virat Kohli who scored 4038 runs at an average of 51.11 and a strike rate of 137.95 in 118 matches he played.

During the 11th over of the game, Babar hit a boundary which helped him break Virat Kohli’s long-standing world record and become the highest run scorer in T20I cricket. Babar Azam-led Pakistan had a tough time when they met the United States at Grand Prairie Stadium as they lost wickets at regular intervals.
Despite losing three wickets in the powerplay, the 72-run partnership stand from Babar Azam and Shadab Khan helped the side to recover from dismissals. Pakistan scored only 46 runs in the first nine overs but managed to score 159 runs in 20 overs. Babar Azam made a knock of 44 runs in 43 balls which includes 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Coming to the match, the United States won the toss and opted to bowl. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam opened the innings and Rizwan was sent back to the dugout for 9 runs. With Usman and Fakhar Zaman’s departure for 3 and 11 runs, Pakistan lost three wickets in the fifth over.
