Indian pacers did an exceptional job bowling out Australia for 104 in the second innings of the first test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
India’s stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah picked a five-wicket haul and led India’s charge to great effect to help the team secure 46 run lead. Australia registered one of the lowest totals against on their home soil.
The record for the lowest score is 83 runs, which Australia scored in Melbourne in 1981. The second lowest score before this was 107 in Sydney in 1947. This was the fourth-lowest Australia score which will be noted as one of the best moments in fierce clashes in India vs Australia cricket team timelines. Mitchell Starc was the highest scorer in Australia’s innings smashing 26 runs.
Along with Bumrah, Siraj picked two wickets while Harshit Rana claimed 3 wickets. Josh Hazlewood was the only one not out at the end, with 7 runs off 32 balls.

The team was bundled up in 51.2 overs and also recorded their lowest score at the perth ground, getting bowled out for just 104 runs. Australia also recorded their lowest score at the Perth ground, getting bowled out for 104 runs.
Responding to India’s 150 runs, Australia started their innings but the hosts’ batting line up was collapsed by Indian bowlers.
The collapse was followed by Jasprit Bumrah‘s stunning claim on three wickets of Ushman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney and Steven Smith. Meanwhile, Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj joined Bumrah to create destruction in Australia’s batting line up.
Usman Khawaja and Nathan McSweeney opened the innings, but the debutant has been the prey for Bumrah as he lost his wicket for 10 runs. Meanwhile Labuschagne survived after Virat Kohli dropped a catch.
However, Steven Smith was sent out on a golde duck by Bumrah as the side lost the third wicket for 19 runs. Siraj picked his wicket on a lbw while Usman Khawaja scored 8 runs.
After Travis Head‘s dismissal for 11 runs by Rana, Siraj picked the wicket of Marsh for 11 runs. With, Australia losing wickets at regular interval, Alex Carey was the one standing at the crease with 19 runs by the end of day 01.
The hosts lost seven wickets for 67 runs by the end of Day 01. Resuming the match on day 02, Australia lost all 10 wickets before the lunch and scored only 104 runs at Optus Stadium.
