AUS vs IND 2024-25: India to play extra pink ball game during Australia tour

Indian cricket team gets a massive boost in their Australia tour 2024-25 with an extra pink ball contest set to be played ahead of the crucial second Test in Adelaide. India will play a two-day pink ball match against a Prime Minister’s XI in Canberra between the first and second Tests of the eagerly awaited Border-Gavaskar series in Australia.

Nearly after 30 years, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be played out over five Tests. The series will be a crucial one for both sides as they attempt to earn their place in next year’s ICC World Test Championship final.

Currently, India leads the WTC 2023-25 points table with 68.51 PCT while Australia holds the second spot with 62.50 PCT. Australia won their maiden World Test Championship title by defeating India by 209 runs at The Oval last year while India still struggles to lift their maiden title even after qualifying for the finals a couple of times.

Speaking of the Border-Gavaskar 2024-25 schedule, the first match will be played on November 22-26 in Perth with the last and final test at Sydney on January 3-7.

In addition to the five Tests, India will play a two-day pink ball practice game between November 30 – December 1. The match will provide some match practice against the pink ball and under lights ahead of the Adelaide Test which will be played under the same conditions.

In the previous and only day-night Test between India and Australia played in 2020, the Aussies defeated India by eight wickets. The Adelaide test will mark the second game of its kind between India and Australia.
