AUS vs IND 1st test playing 11; Nitish, McSweeney makes debut

AUS vs IND 1st test playing 11: The first test of the India tour of Australia 2024-25 will be played between November 22 and 26 in Perth. Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be the first Test series between India and Australia comprising five matches since 1992.

The Test matches will form part of the 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship. The five test series will be key series for both Australia and India in their WTC 2023-25 final qualifications.

Ahead of the series start, Indian captain Rohit Sharma pulled out of the first game to be with his family to cherish the moment of his second childbirth. BCCI confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will lead the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

Winning the toss, India standing captain Jasprit Bumrah said “We are going to bat first, looks like a good wicket. Very confident with our preparation. We played a Test match here in 2018 so we know what to expect. The wicket gets quicker. Nitish makes his debut. We have 4 quicks and Washi is the lone spinner”.

India (Playing XI): KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Reddy, Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, Jasprit Bumrah(c), Mohammed Siraj

Australia (Playing XI): Usman Khawaja, Nathan McSweeney, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey(w), Pat Cummins(c), Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood
