Star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed the top order of the Kiwis during the second test of the New Zealand tour of India 2024 and surpassed Nathan Lyon to become the seventh leading wicket-taker in Tests.

Playing his 104th test on Thursday, he went past Nathan Lyon’s tally of 530 wickets. Ashwin opened his account in the ongoing test by picking the wicket of Tom Latham for 15 runs on the fifth ball of his first over of the match and then got rid of Will Young for 18 runs in the last ball of the 24th over.

His third wicket of the match was Devon Conway who was caught after making 76 runs by Rishabh Pant. With these wickets Ashwin stands 531 wickets, placing him just ahead of Lyon.

Muttiah Muralitharan has the overall record of dismissing most batters in Tests picking 800 wickets. Australia’s Shane Warne has second tally with 708 wickets. James Anderson has 3rd test

Anil Kumble, Stuart Broad and Glenn McGrath have 619, 604 and 563 wickets and secured 4th, 5th and 6th places respectively.
