The Veteran bowler Ravichandran Ashwin surpassed Bhagwath Chandrasekhar who had the most wickets in Test Cricket against England.
India’s leading wicket-taker in England Tests
The Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made the record on Day 04 in India’s second Test against England at ACA-VDCA Stadium. The Indian side had made several records during the second test of England’s India tour.
Bhagwath Chandrasekhar bagged 95 wickets in 23 matches which included 8 five-wicket hauls. Before the second test, Ashwin was two wickets short of surpassing the records of the former cricketer.
Ashwin returned empty-handed without bagging any wickets during the first innings of the Vizag Test. He bowled 12 overs and gave 61 runs with an economy of 5.10. India bowled out England for 253 runs in their first innings.
During the second innings, Ashwin dismissed the wickets of Ben Duckett who was caught at short leg at the fag end of the third day’s play.
During the first session on Day 04, Ashwin dismissed the wicket of Ollie Pope, who smashed 196 runs during the opening Test at the Hyderabad Stadium. He also sent Joe Root to Pavilion after scoring 16 runs.
Ashwin is currently second on the list of leading wicket-takers in test matches between India and England. Ashwin is only one wicket away from 500 Test wickets.

Ashwin has been impressive with bat and bowl during the Test matches against England. He had smashed a century at MA Chidambaram Stadium during England’s tour of India in 2021.
India scored 253 runs in the second innings of the Test where Tom Hartley bagged four wickets while Rehan Ahmed dismissed three batters and James Anderson bagged two wickets.
