Sri Lanka Cricket(SLC) revealed their 16-member squad for the T20I series against India. The India tour of Sri Lanka 2024 will be played between July 27 and August 7 where a total of 3 T20Is and three ODIs will be played.
As Wanindu Hasaranga stepped down as T20I captain, the SLC named Charith Asalanka as their new skipper for the India series.
Notably, team India will also feature in this series under the new captaincy. As Rohit Sharma announced T20I retirement after winning the T20 World Cup 2024, BCCI named Suryakumar Yadav as the new T20I captain for Indian cricket team.
The revamped Sri Lankan squad also sees veteran Angelo Mathews and the experienced Dhananjaya de Silva going out of the squad while senior players like Dinesh Chandimal, and Kusal Janith Perera make their way in.
Speaking of the bowling side, left-arm seamer Binura Fernando makes his comeback in the national side after picking up 13 wickets in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League(LPL).
The first T20I match of the India tour of Sri Lanka 2024 will be played on July 27 in Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele.
