With an impressive bowling return from Arshdeep Singh who picked a four-wicket haul with an economy of 2.20 against the United States, India secured their third win in the group stages of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Arshdeep Singh picked four wickets conceding only 9 runs in the four overs he bowled helping the side to contain runs for a low-score clash. He was named Player of the Match and while speaking at the post-match conference, “Very very happy with the performance. In the last two games, I gave away a few more runs and wasn’t happy with that. The team always showed belief in me and kept backing me, I had to deliver for them.”

“The wicket is very conducive to fast bowlers and it’s helping us get some seam movement. The plan was simple, pitch it in the wicket and let the ball do the talking. Don’t give easy balls to score, our batsmen are also facing difficulties to score runs. The plan was to hit the hard lengths.”

“In conditions like this, you can use the wicket more. When you are playing international cricket, you need to have some routines and the way you take care of your body counts. All the bowlers have done extremely well, looking forward to do the same in the next leg as well,” he concluded.

Coming to the match, India won the toss and opted to bowl. Shayan Jahangir and Steven Taylor opened the innings for the US while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack. With the very first ball of the match, Arshdeep Singh picked the wicket of Shayan on a lbw.

Andries Gous came to bat where he scored 2 runs before Arshdeep Singh picked his wickets in the last ball of the first over. He was sent out on a bouncer which Gous hit high on the bat. Hardik Pandya ran across mid-off, called out for the catch, and easily caught the ball.
