Arshdeep Singh Picks Two Wickets in a Single Over – T20 World Cup 2024 IND vs IRE

During their first match of the T20 World Cup 2024 Campaign, India’s Arshdeep Singh dismissed Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie in a single over wiping out the wickets of openers to give an impressive start for India at the US and West Indies.

Arshdeep Singh’s impressive spell gave a significant boost helping other bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya to create havoc in Ireland’s batting line up helping the side restrict Ireland for 96 runs.

Coming to the match, India won the toss and opted to bowl. Paul Stirling and Andrew Balbirnie opened the innings while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack. With their dismissal in a single over for 2 and 5 runs respectively, Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector came to bat. But with a dangerous spell from Hardik Pandya and Bumrah, Tucker and Harry Tector were sent out for 10 and 04 runs.

Curtis Campher tried to pick up the phase in the match but was sent back to the dugout by Hardik. With the dismissal of Dockrell by Siraj for 3 runs, Ireland lost 6 wickets for 46 runs.

Delany scored 26 runs on 14 deliveries and tried to bring back the side into competition. But with his run out, Ireland’s middle order completely shattered. With Joshua Little‘s 14 runs in the low order, Ireland scored 96 runs losing all 10 wickets in 16 overs.

With the target of 97 runs, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opened the innings where the latter was dismissed by Mark Adair for one run. By the end of the power play, India scored 39 runs. Rishabh Pant joined hands with Rohit Sharma to cross the 50-run mark in the match. By the end of the 10th over, India scored 76 runs losing only one wicket.

With Rohit Sharma’s retirement hurt, Suryakumar came to bat and was sent back to the dugout for 2 runs by Benjamin White. Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 36* runs helping the side to win the match by the 13th over.
