Anshul Kamboj Becomes Third Bowler to Pick 10 Wickets in Ranji Trophy Innings

The Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj has registered his name in the list of elite players to have picked all 10 wickets in a Ranji Trophy Innings.

Kamboj becomes the third bowler to pick all 10 wickets in the tournament. He is also the sixth Indian bowler to achieve this feat in first-class cricket.

Kamboj achieved the landmark by picking 10 wickets conceding only 49 runs in his 30.1 overs as Haryana dismissed Kerala for 291 runs on day 03 at Lahli stadium.

In the process, he also completed 50 wickets in his 19th first-class cricket appearance.

Kamboj joins an exclusive list of bowlers featuring Premangsu Chatterjee who picked 10/20 in Bengal-Assam game in 1956 and pradeep Sunderam who picked 10/78 in the Rajasthan Vidarbha match in 1985.

Kamboj entered day 03 after picking eight wickets on day two and took out Basil Thampi and Shoun Roger to completed 10-fer.

In September, during Duleep Trophy games, Kamboj picked 8/69 to become only the third pacer to record eight wicket haul in the tournament after Debasis Mohanty who has 10/46 and Ashoke Dinda (8/123).

“In red-ball cricket, line and length is same for every wicket. The red ball moves off the wicket and in the air also. There is not much difference in both the types of wickets [spin and seamer-friendly].”

“In red-ball cricket, everyone tries to bowl a length ball on the fourth stump, to get an edge or LBW,” said Kamboj.

“After bowling two-three overs, we will understand which line and length will be more helpful to get wickets. I try to adapt as soon as possible to the situation and the kind of wicket,” added Kamboj.

Kamboj recently played for India ‘A’ in the Emerging Men’s Asia Cup in Oman last month, and took four wickets in three games. In International cricket, only Jim Laker, Anil Kumble and Ajaz Patel have picked all 10 wickets in a single innings of a Test match.
