    Amir Jangoo Earns Maiden Call-Up for Pakistan Tests

    The 27-year-old Amir Jangoo has been selected in the squad for the upcoming test series of the West Indies tour of Pakistan 2025.

    Jangoo who made heroics in the recent ODI series against Bangladesh will travel to Pakistan in January 2025.

    After impressing with a 104* in 83 balls against Bangladesh on his ODI debut in St Kitts and as a regular performing in regional cricket, the 27-year-old earned a spot in the 15-player group.

    Meanwhile, spinner Gudakesh Motie who was unavailable for the recent drawn test series against Bangladesh, returns to the side.

    Shamar Joseph remains out with injury while Alzarri Joseph was unavailable for selection.

    Speaking ahead of the squad selection, head coach Andre Coley said, “For the Test series against Pakistan in January 2025, the focus is on building on what we have done well and transforming the learnings from 2024 into tangible results.”

    “Motie rejoins the squad to bolster the spin attack, while Jangoo’s selection comes on the back of his consistency across formats in regional cricket, as well as his demonstrated high level of competency against spin bowling.”

    Andre Coley will the overseeing team’s coaching duties for Pakistan tour as red ball coach Daren Sammy will take over the duties from June.

    Both sides are gearing up for the final action in WTC 2023-25 with both teams are out of WTC contention after secured places in the bottom of the WTC points table.

    The first match of the Pakistan tests will begin on January 16 at National Stadium Karachi.
