The incident happened during the South Africa vs Sri Lanka group match of the ICC men’s ODI World Cup 2023 played on October 7 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

Aiden Markram secured his century in just 49 deliveries and became the player to score the fastest hundred in an ODI World Cup tournament. Before Aiden Markram’s record-breaking century, England’s Kevin O’Brien topped the list by scoring his century in just 50 deliveries that too played in India(M. Chinnaswamy Stadium) in the 2011 ODI World Cup.

Aiden Markram is the first South African batter to score the Fastest Hundreds in ODI World Cup.

Aiden Markram scored 106 runs in 54 deliveries before being dismissed by Dilshan Madushanka in 1st ball of the 48th over. His 106 runs came at a strike rate of 196.30 which included 14 boundaries and 3 sixes.

The 13th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup was scheduled to be hosted by India between October 5 to November 19. It will be the first time the competition is held entirely in India; three previous editions were partially hosted there – 1987, 1996, and 2011.

As per ICC Men’s Cricket ODI World Cup 2023 schedule, England and New Zealand will play the first match of the tournament on October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. A total of 48 matches will be played between 10 participating teams across 10 venues in different cities across India.

It will be the first time the competition is held entirely in India; three previous editions were partially hosted there – 1987, 1996, and 2011. As of the previous edition, the 2023 edition will also follow the same format where each participating team will play the other nine teams once in the group stage where a total of 45 group matches will be played.

The top 4 teams of the ICC ODI World Cup points table will enter the knockout stage to play semifinal 1 and semifinal 2.
