Ahead of the much awaited ICC men’s ODI World Cup 2023, an opening ceremony is planned to take place in Ahmedabad on October 4.

With no official announcement from the board yet, the report confirms that the World Cup 2023 opening ceremony event might take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera. This iconic stadium not only holds the honour of hosting the opening match on October 5 but also the final on November 19.

As per the ICC Men’s Cricket ODI World Cup 2023 schedule, England and New Zealand will play the first match of the tournament on October 5 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. A total of 48 matches will be played between 10 participating teams across 10 venues in different cities across India.

The members of the International Cricket Council (ICC), members of the executive board of the global cricket governing body, and representatives of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be present on the occasion.

As per a report, insights into the developments, “the inauguration ceremony is anticipated to be a brief yet a dazzling affair, culminating in a cultural extravaganza. The spotlight of the event will shine upon all 10 captains of the participating teams. The ICC will organize a formal briefing session for the captains during this event, aptly referred to as Captains Day”.

“The eve of the inauguration ceremony will witness a flurry of action as six out of the ten competing teams are slated to engage in warm-up matches. Among these matchups, India will take on the Netherlands, Australia will lock horns with Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will face off against Afghanistan”.

“With the captains anticipated to arrive in Ahmedabad on the morning of October 4, the evening promises a picturesque photo-op that will capture the collective leadership of these cricketing titans”, the report added.
