    Afghanistan named Younis Khan as mentor for Champions Trophy 2025

    Afghanistan Cricket Board has named former Pakistan captain Younis Khan as the mentor for the Afghan Atalans for the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Earlier in 2022, Younis Khan was named as the batting consultant of Afghanistan on a temporary contract for a training camp which lasted 15 days in the UAE.

    As per the Champions Trophy 2025 Afghanistan Schedule, the team will play their first match against South Africa on February 21 at National Stadium, Karachi.

    2025 edition of the Champions Trophy will be the maiden appearance for Afghanistan Cricket team. The Afghan Atalans have been named in Group B along with South Africa, Australia and England.

    “ACB has assigned former experienced top order Pakistani player Younis Khan as Mentor for Champions Trophy 2025. He (Younis) will join the team before the event starts in Pakistan,” ACB spokesman Sayeed Naseem Sadat confirmed on a sports news website.

    Younis Khan has played 118 tests, 265 ODI and 25 T20Is while playing for Pakistan and scored 10099, 7249 and 442 runs before his retirement in 2017. He also became world number one batsman in the ICC rankings. He also led Pakistan to its maiden T20 World Cup triumph in 2009.
