New Zealand pacer Adam Milne has been ruled out of the remainder of New Zealand’s limited-overs tour of Europe with an Achilles injury.
Adam Milne Ruled Out of Europe Tour
Initially, Milne felt pain in his left Achilles tendon during NZ’s first net session in Ireland, which now forced him to be available only for the final two games of the tour against the Netherlands. Jacob Duffy was called up as Adam Milne’s replacement in the squad.
“We’re naturally disappointed for Adam,” said coach Shane Jurgensen on Friday (July 15).
“He’s a great character in any team and I am sure he’ll apply his strong will to this next phase of rehabilitation. There is still a lot of cricket to come this year including the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia, and Adam is determined to make himself available to be part of that selection picture”.
“We’re backing Jacob to step up. He’s made an exciting start to his white ball international career. He’s an established performer in our Dream11 Super Smash and showed on his T20I debut against Pakistan that he can transfer those skills to international cricket.”
New Zealand’s T20I squad also includes Mark Chapman, Daryl Mitchell, Michael Rippon, Ben Sears and Jimmy Neesham who were not part of the ODI group.
In the ongoing Ireland tour, New Zealand leads the 3-match ODI series with the final left to play on July 15. Following the ODI series, both teams are scheduled to play 3 matches T20I series in Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast.
