Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has termed Virat Kohli‘s form with the bat in IPL 2022 as “a nightmare that is unfolding in front of millions of people”.

Kohli, who was promoted as an opener in Anuj Rawat’s absence, managed to score only 9 runs before getting dismissed by Prasidh Krishna.
Earlier, Kohli had registered two golden ducks in the last two games against LSG and SRH, respectively. The last three dismissals have left veterans and analysts concerned over what’s ailing Kohli, who is considered a modern-era great.
Notably, Virat Kohli, the highest run-getter in the history of IPL, has failed to deliver with the bat for Royal Challengers Bangalore in this season. This is turning out to be the RCB star’s worst season since his debut season in 2008. In 9 IPL 2022 games so far, Virat Kohli has scored only 128 runs at an average of 16.
“Virat Kohli is living a nightmare, for some the nightmare gets over, the bad times get over. This nightmare is unfolding in front of millions of people. It is tough being Virat Kohli right now. It is tough being Virat Kohli. PERIOD. The kind of attention that he gets,” Aakash Chopra said.
Kohli’s present run of form is part of his century-less streak of internationals that date back to November 2019, when he had scored a match-winning 136 against Bangladesh in the historic Pink-Ball Test at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
“Today, I felt that his bat was made of edges. There was no fiddle. He got a couple of boundaries. He is trying everything. He is going hard at the ball. He is taking his time. But it’s just not working out. Two first-ball ducks. He has been dismissed six times in the first 10 balls,” Chopra added.
RCB will face Gujarat Titans to play their next league match of IPL 2022 on April 30, 2022 in Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
