Player of the Match
Moises Henriques | Sydney Sixers
I said it before the match, we have had a lot of success as a team, but one of the most nerve-wracking matches to play is the first one, glad we bowled well and we had a lot of balls flying behind the wicket off thickish edges, they got 10-15 more in hindsight. The wicket was very good, very happy with the win.
We try to hit it so hard in the Surge, but today I was trying to play it down in the Surge as we needed 34 off 24. To bowl spin in the Surge is always tough, he [Zampa] is a world-class spinner, that’s why they went for him but there was not much hold on that wicket.
I watched the ball hard and hit it hard. Those two [Abbott and Dwarshius] in particular bowled tough overs, though they went at 8-9 an over, the boys bowled a lot better than the figures suggest.
Happy for Joel Davies as well, his master Steve O’Keefe will be happy. [on O’Keefe if he is there at the venue] I’m not sure he is here tonight.
