The West Indies pacer Shamar Joseph has been named as the replacement for Mark Wood in the LSG squad for the upcoming IPL 2024 season.

After receiving many offers from various IPL franchises, Shamar Joseph joins LSG for INR 3 Crore. He is set to replace Mark Wood in the squad due to managing his workload ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
The England Cricket Board has decided to pull out the player to manage his workload. Previously, ECB pulled out Jofra Archer from IPL 2024 to manage his workload ahead of the Marquee event in June.
He was part of the LSG franchise in IPL 2022 but was ruled out due to his elbow injury. During the IPL 2023 edition, he bagged 11 wickets in four matches before pulling out of the league.
Joseph made his West Indies debut in the drawn series on West Indies Australia’s tour 2024 and dismissed Steven Smith in the first ball of the Test cricket in Adelaide. He picked up seven wickets in the second Test to help the side win their first Test match against Australia since 1997.
He was part of the Dubai Capitals franchise in the ILT20 2024 but was ruled out due to his toe injury in the Brisbane Test. He will be participating in the PSL 2024 which starts on February 17.
Joseph has just played only two T20 games in his career. On this occasion, the white ball series coach, Daren Sammy, indicated that the player could have a place in the T20 World Cup Squad.
With the dates for IPL 2024 announced, the fixtures are said to be disclosed soon. The delay in the announcement of the schedule as the dates coincide with the elections dates in India.
