Notably, the inaugural edition of the league reached a cumulative audience of 557 million through TV, digital-social media and traditional media. Out of the five teams that have played in the Lanka Premier League only one team has won the competition twice.
Jaffna Stallions became the champion for the inaugural season of the Lanka Premier League defeating Galle Gladiators by 53 runs in the final of the inaugural season. Jaffna Kings beat Galle Gladiators by 23 runs in the final, to win their second successive LPL title.
This year’s edition will be played across 3 venues, namely MRICS, Hambantota; PKICS, Kandy; and RPICS, Colombo. A total of 24 matches will be played between 5 teams.
The tournament will kick off with matches played in MRICS, Hambantota, and then move to PKICS, Kandy, before shifting to RPICS, Colombo, to play the last leg of the first round matches of the tournament, including the eliminator round and the finals.
