Virat Kohli Becomes First Batter to Complete 7500 Runs in IPL History
The right-hander achieved this feat during the RR vs RCB clash on April 6 in Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. Ahead of the 2008 IPL, RCB bagged Virat Kohli for USD 30,000 and since then the batter only played for the Bengaluru-based team.
Over the year, Virat achieved various records in the tournament and became the leading run-scorer of the IPL tournament. Kohli maintains his aggressive form in the ongoing season and leads the list of most players in IPL.
Speaking on the match, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first where Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis opened the inning. Despite the previous matches, the duo made an aggressive start and went on to surpass the 100-run mark.
Rajasthan Royals on the other hand struggled to make the breakthrough to restrict the run flow.
At the end of the 14th over, Chahal dismissed Faf du Plessis for 44 runs and broke the well-settled partnership. Notably, Kohli and du Plessis added more runs today (as a pair) than they collectively managed across the last four innings (124).
During the inning, Virat Kohli becomes the first batter to score 7500 runs in Indian Premier League history.
Following the RCB captain’s dismissal, Maxwell also lost his wicket to Nandre Burger after scoring just 1 run off 3 deliveries. On the other hand, Virat Kohli continued his aggression and scored his maiden century of the season in 67 deliveries and made an outstanding inning. His century includes 9 boundaries and 4 sixes.
At the end of 20 overs, RCB scored 183 runs for 3 wickets loss. Notably, Virat Kohli holds the IPL 2024 Orange Cap for scoring the most runs in the IPL 2024 season.
Rajasthan Royals holds the 2nd spot in the IPL 2024 Points Table with three victories in three games they played so far. While RCB holds the 8th spot in the same.
In the first four matches of this season, Virat Kohli scored 21(20) vs Chennai Super Kings, 77(49) vs Punjab Kings, 83(59) vs Kolkata Knight Riders and 22(16) vs Lucknow Super Giants.
