Prior to the auction, many predicted that Sam Curran will fetch a sizable amount of money in the Auction. As expected England’s all-rounder become the most expensive buy in the IPL auction history.
Apart from Sam Curran, his teammate Ben Stokes and Australia’s Cameron Green and West Indies’ Nicholas Pooran bagged 15+ crore each in the event. In IPL 2022 Mega Auction, only Ishan Kishan bagged more than INR 15 crores and eventually ended up as the most expensive player in IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

England all-rounder Sam Curran becomes the most expensive player in IPL 2023 Auction after fetching a whooping INR 18.50 crore bid from Punjab Kings.
Sam Curran becomes a sensation in IPL 2023 Auction after his record for best T20I figures 5–10 against Afghanistan in 2022. Sam Curran was part of the England team that won the 2022 T20 World Cup, taking the most wickets for England at the tournament and was named Player of the Tournament.
Notably, Sam Curran was one of the ex-Punjab Kings players in IPL. In December 2018, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab(now named as Punjab Kings) in the player auction for the 2019 Indian Premier League for 7.20 crore Rupees.
Though he shines with both bat and ball, PBKS released him ahead of IPL 2020 auction where he was brought by CSK for INR 5.50 crore.
Cameron Green

The Australian player Cameron Green who can be a partnership breaker becomes the second most expensive player in the IPL 2023 Auction after being signed by Mumbai Indians for INR 17.50 crores.
The bid war starts between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore and the price surpassed INR 7 crores in no time. After reaching INR 7 crore mark RCB parted ways while Delhi Capitals starts the bid war with Mumbai Indians.
Finally, Mumbai Indians bagged the service of Cameron Green at the price of INR 17.50 crore.
Cameron Green made his international debut for the Australia national cricket team in December 2020. Being a Bowling all-rounder, Green played 8 T20Is and scored 139 runs and bagged 5 wickets at an economy of 8.90.
Ben Stokes

Ben stokes – a world-class all-rounder and a natural leader who has 2 IPL hundreds under his belt have become the third most expensive player in the IPL 2023 Auction.
CSK might roped Ben Stokes in a vision of naming him as the captain in future replacing MS Dhoni. Ben stokes already has the experience of playing under MS Dhoni during his stint with Rising Pune Supergiants.
Ben Stokes who has the ability to swing the ball at a high pace attracts the franchise after scoring an unbeaten 52 runs in the World Cup 2022 final against Pakistan. As of Sam Curran, he was part of the England team that won the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Ben Stokes has so far played 43 T20Is and scored 920 runs which include 2 centuries and 2 half centuries. With the ball, he bagged 28 wickets at an economy rate of 8.56.
Nicholas Pooran

West Indies wicket-keeper batter Nicholas Pooran and former SRH player bagged INR 16 crore in IPL 2023 Auction. Lucknow Super Giant who ended up in 4th position in IPL 2022 season bagged Pooran for a whopping INR 16 crores.
Nicholas Pooran made his IPL debut in 2017 for Mumbai Indians and so far played 47 IPL matches for various teams and scored 912 runs which include 4 half-centuries. In his last season with SRH, Pooran scored 306 runs from playing 14 matches at an average of 38.25.
Though CSK made the opening bid, Delhi Capitals fought so hard to bag the service of Nicholas Pooran but ended up losing to LSG at the price of INR 16 crore.
Harry Brook

Harry Brook who made his International debut for England in January 2022 ended the year as a millionaire after SRH signed him for INR 13.25 crores in the IPL 2023 Auction.
There was a bidding war between RCB and RR initially before SRH joined the bidding war. SRH and RR then kept raising the paddle as Brook’s worth crossed Rs 13 crore, at which point RR finally dropped out as they(RR) only has Rs 13.2 crore in their purse.
He made his T20I debut on 26 January 2022, for England against the West Indies. SRH might roped him in thought to fill the vacant captaincy role in future. Harry Brook has captained England under-19 cricket team in a five-match youth ODI series against India in August 2017.
He was also named the captain of England’s squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Harry Brook becomes the second England captain after Alastair Cook to score a century in the U19 World Cup.
Harry Brook has so far played 20 T20Is and scored 372 runs at a strike rate of 137.78 with the highest score of 81.

Ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction, Punjab Kings released Mayank Agarwal after 5 years stint. Punjab Kings bagged Mayank Agarwal in the Auction for IPL 2018 season for INR 1 crore and retained him at the same price till the 2021 season.
Ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction, PBKS retained him for INR 12 crore but released him ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction.
At his base price of INR 1 crore, PBKS and RCB made a bidding war while PBKS parted ways after reaching 3.60 crores. CSK and SRH continued the bidding war while SRH ended up bagging his service for INR 8.25 crores.
Mayank Agarwal played 113 IPL matches and scored 2331 runs which include a century and 12 half-centuries.
Shivam Mavi

The defending champions Gujarat Titans bagged the service of Shivam Mavi for INR 6 crore during the IPL 2023 Auction.
Shivam Mavi who made his IPL debut for KKR remained as the part for the last 5 seasons but the 2 times IPL champions released Mavi ahead of the IPL 2023 Auction owing to his high price cap.
KKR retained Shivam Mavi for INR 7.25 crores ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction where he played just 6 matches and bagged only 5 wickets at an economy of 10.31.
Jason Holder

Jason Holder – arguably one of the best fast-bowling all-rounders currently who can be a leadership candidate joins Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2023 Auction.
Jason Holder registered his name at a base price of INR 2 crore where CSK and RR starts the bidding war. While no other teams showed interest in the West Indies all-rounder, Rajasthan Royals bagged the service for INR 5.75 crore.
Holder so far played 38 matches in IPL and scored 247 runs and bagged 49 wickets with the best of 4/52.

Mukesh Kumar who went unsold in IPL 2022 mega auction at his base price of INR 20 Lakh now entered the list of IPL 2023 Auction – top 10 expensive players after fetching INR 5.5 crores in the event.
Delhi Capitals showed a huge interest in the Bihar born. DC started the bidding war against CSK at his base price and remains in the war till last. Mukesh Kumar has so far played 17 T20s and bagged 19 wickets with a best of 3/33.
Heinrich Klassen

The South African wicketkeeper batter was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 5.25 crores during the IPL 2023 Auction.
Heinrich Klassen remains as one of the aggressive batters who loves the finisher role. Klassen has struck 105 sixes and 175 fours in T20s so far. SA’s Heinrich Klassen has played 7 matches in IPL and scored 66 runs at an average of 13.20.
