Shashank, Prabhsimran Singh Retained by PBKS Ahead of IPL 2025 Mega Auction

Ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh have been the only retentions made by the Punjab Kings.

The Punjab-based franchise has released some big names including Harshal Patel, Sam Curran, Jitesh Sharma, Kagiso Rabada, Jonny Bairstow, and Liam Livingstone. But the team has retained two uncapped players and will go into the auction with the maximum purse amount.

Preity Zinta’s side has been unfortunate for almost a decade as they haven’t managed to qualify for the knockout stage. Aiming for glory in the IPL 2025, Punjab Kings made some changes to the coaching staff by appointing legendary Australia skipper Ricky Ponting as the head coach.

Meanwhile, the franchise has retained Brad Haddin, and bowling coach Sunil Joshi and also added James Hope to their setup as a fast bowling coach.

With a total of INR 9.5 Crore having been used for the retention, the Bengaluru franchise will be moving into the mega auction with a remaining purse value of INR 110.5 Crore.

With a fresh three-year cycle starting with the IPL 2025 season next year, the upcoming retentions will be crucial for all the teams to adopt new strategies for success.

The IPL 2025 Mega Auction will take place in November or December with BCCI exploring the options of holding the event overseas, Riyadh in the United Arab Emirates has emerged as the frontrunner while Muscat, Doha and Riyadh are also being considered.
