MI IPL 2023 Auction Strategy: The five times IPL champions Mumbai Indians face back-to-back bad seasons in the last two IPL tournaments. In the 2021 season, MI finished in 5th position while in 2022 Mumbai Indians finished in 10th position – the last position.

Post two unsuccessful seasons, Mumbai Indians will definitely look to build a strong team for the upcoming season. Ahead of the IPL 2023 auction, MI released 13 players and retained 16 players.
After being released by MI, Pollard announced his IPL retirement while Mumbai Indians named him as the new batting coach for the upcoming season.
Mumbai Indians received a mixed comments after announcing their retained players list. Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar opened up on his view on MI IPL 2023 Auction Strategy and explains who Mumbai Indians will be targeting at this year’s auction.

So, they are looking for their Rashid khan or a Sunil Narine. So, that’s where somebody like a Zampa or an Adil Rashid can come into the equation to find the leg spinner. So, all three aspects seem okay despite their performance last season.

So, yes a wrist spinner, they have let go of M. Ashwin, they have a history of spinners, there was Markande with them, Rahul Chahar, they should never have let him go, he’s gone, so maybe an overseas spinner somebody like a Zampa or an Adil Rashid will be perfect for them.”
The IPL 2023 Auction will begin at 2:30 PM IST at Kochi. BCCI has pruned the auction register of the IPL to 405 from 991 but only the first 86 players will certainly be called for auction. The rest will be part of the accelerated process that will commence from player No 87.
Apart from Mumbai Indians, CSK also named their former player in their coaching unit. CSK named Dwayne Bravo as their bowling coach replacing L Balaji who has opted for a break due to personal reasons.
