Rohit Sharma | MI skipper: We would have batted first. We played good cricket here batting first in the last game, so we just need to put up a good performance.
The talk before the tournament for us was to focus on the basics of batting, bowling, and fielding and our preparations were good. We back ourselves to do whatever is thrown at us. We are playing on the same team.
KL Rahul | KXIP skipper: We’re going to bowl first. It is a new strip, looks really good, and should play well for 40 overs. Hopefully, there is a bit of movement first up. Gowtham comes in place of M Ashwin, that’s the only change.

Ravi Bishnoi gets in to bowl his second over of the innings. KXIP bowlers are in pressure to break the partnership that starts to build after losing a couple of wickets. The two batsmen in the strike are capable of changing the game flow with their aggressive striking.

Neesham gets in to bowl his third over of the innings. With the boundary of the over MI skipper, Rohit Sharma makes his half-century. Rohit seems unstoppable as he continuous to hit another boundary followed by a couple of massive sixes. With 22 runs off the over MI scored 124 runs for 3 wicket loss.

Mohammed Shami gets in to bowl his third over of the innings. An outstanding catch from Maxwell and Neesham at the boundary to dismiss MI skipper Rohit Sharma for 70 runs. Hardik Pandya, right-handed bat gets in to join hands with Pollard.
KXIP is in need to dismiss anyone of the MI striker as these two would make some raining sixes at the death over. Pollard has been given out of the last delivery where he retained himself to get in-game with an appeal.

Shami gets in to bowl his last over of the innings. Hardik Pandya seems unstoppable as he hits a lovely boundary of the second delivery from Shami. With four boundaries of the over MI scored 166 runs for 4 wicket loss.

Krishnappa Gowtham gets in to bowl the final over of the innings. A massive shot from Pandya which makes an 83 meter six. With a single of the next ball, Pandya rotates the strike to Pollard where he makes another massive six.

Boult gets in to bowl his final over of the innings. Boult dismissed Bishnoi while scoring 1 run. Bishnoi actually squeezed that well but hit it straight to backward point which lays over Surya Kumar Yadav’s hand.

Captains View
KL Rahul | Losing team captain(KXIP): Obviously disappointing. Looking back, we could’ve been three wins out of four. This game, we made some mistakes. Important we come back stronger. The wicket looked good with the new ball.
Don’t know if it showed up after that. Another bowling option would be nice – an all-rounder option who can bat and bowl well. Will be sitting with the coaches to decide if we want to play an extra bowler.
Until and unless that orange cap stays with Kings XI I’m happy. He’s (Agarwal) worked very hard and deserves that cap. I’m sure I’ll take it off him soon.
Rohit Sharma | Winning team Captain(MI): Was a great win. We didn’t start really well, but we always knew with the kind of attack Punjab had we wanted to capitalize on. Those two guys they back themselves to get the runs, it’s nice to have them in form as well.
It wasn’t going to be easy with the ball against the KXIP batting line-up. We knew we had to get early wickets and everything went to plan, credit to the bowlers. The last game the execution wasn’t exactly right at the death with the ball. So we discussed and wanted to improve.
I haven’t played enough with Boult and Pattinson, so it’s difficult to get them on the same page. They have now got an idea of what I need from them and I got to know them better too. Feels nice to get the runs, but the two points matter more.
Player of the Match
Kieron Pollard | Mumbai Indians: Feels good. We were on the losing side last game, so we want to come out on the right side today. It’s about what’s there in front of you. Look at the bowlers and see how many you want to get, 15 off the over, and then you try to go hard.
Today he had to come and swing and he showed his prowess. We know the sky is the limit in the last 4 overs. Yes, the Sharjah boundaries are small, but we got to hit them right and execute really well with the ball too. We can bask in the glory for now but we have an important game coming up in a couple of days time.
